We had an earlier start today and although there was no rain it was still cold. The hotel/gite had three walking groups staying so there was a fair amount of activity in the morning getting organised. It was still cloudy as we got higher up and views were often masked in mist.
Due to heavy snow and not so good weather we did not go via the Fenettre D'Arpette but via the lower Alp Bovine route. There are often alternative routes for walkers to take and there are some for mountain bikers.
Breakfasts are a very sociable event and it is apparent to us that the trek is more a continuum of meals interspersed with some active walking in spectacular mountains. The bells on the cows can be heard some distance away and are as loud as church bells. I wonder what this does to the cows' hearing - probably destroys it?
We skirted around Champex-Lac without having to descend right into it. At the end of the day we stayed in a large gite at Arpette. Forgot the name of it.
