Weather is now wetter and colder..
J& L went to see the morning Spanish Riding School exercising in the morning. We went to a nice little internet café near the Thale bookshop on Marianhilfestrasse. We hired an Ethernet connection and had 2 cups of coffee for 6 euros. Not enough time to upload blogs – deferred this till Thur or Fri.
In the afternoon we met up with J&L and visited the park in the strip of land in the middle of the Danube. Because of the weather we did not attempt to go the planned Strauss concert in Stadtpark. We did go to see the Hundertwasser apartments which was well worth the effort. We soon recognized the style as we had only last year seen the Hundertwasser toilets in NI New Zealand.
Highlight of the day was a concert and dinner at the Kursalon. Music was mostly Strauss and was (to my ear) pretty well performed. There was variation with some arias sung and some dancing performances. We had to wait till 10 pm for dinner, but it was an excellent 4 course affair. Carpaccio of beef or swordfish and very authentic veal were served. The Austrian wine met with our approval. This extravagant evening was in honour of AMB’s birthday tomorrow.
