ZC: Thur 20 May - last day in Moscow

This is our last day in Moscow so another experience of slow bus journey is de rigueur.

We had a very knowledgeable tour guide - the cruise company puts on local guides at each of our stops. The itinerary was a quick tour of some of the plusher areas surrounding the Kremlin with a walk through a park by the Moscow River and a nunnery which I interperate was used to bang up women who didn't suit the power brokers at the time.

It all looks quite tranquil and a few local art students were practising their skills on the banks., and doing some painting as well.

Ducks on left were a gift from Barbara Bush. Nearby is a little sentry box (forgot to take photo) for a guard to protect the ducks which have suffered various assassination / kidnapping attempts.

Church on right, the churches stand out as they are often the only buildings of interest.

We did a Metro visit prior to going back to boat. Big lunch and then we set sail for Uglich. The journey has lots of locks to go through - we are going downhill. They work fast and efficiently. If one should seize up our journey would come to a halt.

Highlight of the day was the captain's dinner. We were a bit slack and were last in for the 5 course meal. Oops.
