Arrived on time at Heathrow 6.20 am. Too early to check into hotel, so dropped off baggage and made way back to Terminal 3 and took train to Paddington. Paid homage to Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Eros at Piccadilly Circus (what a shame about all the mess there). Walked to Hyde Park and speakers corner. No speakers present and I couldn't find a soap box to stand on.
Went to National Gallery incl Portrait Gallery and admired some artwork including Van Gough's sunflowers. Took tube to Clapham Common and let GPS guide us to Alison's cousins place where we were invited for very pleasant lunch. By shear coincidence another of Alison's cousins - this one from Nova Scotia had also been invited. It was a nice little gathering of the clan.
Jet lag setting in and hotel bed beckoning we headed back to Heathrow trying not to think about Eujafjalajokull which had just closed Manchester airport with London next on its list.
Arriving at hotel & hitting the sack was a wonderful experience.
